Carson was asked to play a shepherd, and at the last minute Katelyn wanted to be his sheep. The director said it was fine, so Kate followed her brother up on stage and reverently played the part of his little lamb seeking the Baby Jesus that Holy Night.
I thought she'd get stage fright, but she felt protected in her big brother's watchful care. A couple times she got excited waving to her daddy in the audience, and stepped too close to the edge of the stage - but Carson kept her close, gently pulling her back to him with his shepherd's crook.
It warmed my heart to see the two of them in this Nativity. Still today, Kate is a reminder for me to TRUST the Good Shepherd, to SEEK Him, to FOLLOW Him, and to LOVE Him. This counts as one of my sweetest memories and gifts of Kate that she brought me in her short time with us. I sure think of her and miss her, always - especially this time of year. Love her to Heaven and Back.
