Rapunzel Tea Party for Kate

Every Year in time for Kate's birthday we have a special Tea Party with all the little girl cousins her age.  Its something my girls and I all look forward to.  Karlee helps me pick a theme and we spend late nights doing art and decor for the party.  Among our favorites,  we've done Tinkerbell, the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, and last year's theme -Tangled.  Lots of family participate and make it a special occasion.

Last year's "Tangled Tea Party" was my favorite because of the sweet story behind Rapunzel -

There once was a Kingdom whose hearts were broken because they missed their darling little Lost Princess.  Each year they celebrated her birthday.  Though she was not with them, she remained in their hearts and they held fast to the hope that someday they'd be reunited with her.

There's a lot of subtle symbolism in this sweet story that touches my heart.  One is the little drop of sun that fell from heaven and made a magical flower with the power to heal.  My personal take on this is that the Sun represents The Son (our Savior) and His power to make things whole (broken hearts), and His power over death because of the Resurrection.

Rapunzel sings: "Flower gleam and glow,
Let your power shine,
Make the clock reverse -
Bring back what once was mine.
Heal what has been hurt,
Change the fate's design,
Save what has been lost,
Bring back what once was mine.
What once was mine."

I love my Savior.  He is the Master Healer, and  I believe because of His gift (the Resurrection) everyone will live again.  It gives my heart comfort to know that I will someday see my little girl again (even so the wait seems long.) Disney's fairy tales always have happy endings, and this one is my favorite.

I love the beautiful reunion the Royal family has with their darling Princess in the end.  Very similar, our family celebrates Katelyn's birthday each year.  The Tea Party is a celebration in loving memory of our little princess. We'll never forget her, and she remains in our hearts until someday we'll be with her again, in Heaven's Kingdom.

We're excited for this year's celebration of life for Kate. This year's theme is going to be great! (stay tuned ;) #missourkate
